Diocesan Youth Conference
April 16–20, 2025
The Diocesan Youth Conference (DYC) in Same Diocese, Tanzania, marked a powerful milestone for the Jesus Youth mission. Held from April 16–20, 2025, the event gathered 345 students from 34 schools, offering a dynamic platform for outreach and evangelization.
Led by Jude, Wilma, and Sam, along with Fr. Simon and full-time missionary Moses (with his children), the program was marked by grace, joy, and deep transformation. The spiritual preparation, testimonies, and youth-friendly sessions deeply moved participants and organizers alike.
Special thanks to Bishop Rogath Kimario, who officially invited Jesus Youth and celebrated the concluding Holy Mass, and to the Mangalore Diocese African Mission priests, especially Fr. George and Fr. Vincent, for their local support. The local support from Ursuline Sisters and Sr. Sara, our committed animator, made this mission even more impactful.
This was the first major conference where Jesus Youth was entrusted entirely with spiritual leadership while local priests handled logistics. The trust shown by the diocese and the affirmation from Fr. Victor – "Jesus Youth is the only hope of the Church" – was both humbling and empowering.
We also had productive meetings with school leaders for future mission prospects. As we look ahead, we recognize the need to support our full-time missionaries like Moses more proactively through regular visits, intercession, and practical help. Tanzania is ripe for harvest, and the doors are wide open for the Jesus Youth movement to grow.
